Amplitude-equation formalism for four-wave-mixing geometry with transmission gratings
نویسنده
چکیده
An amplitude equation is derived for a four-wave-mixing geometry with nearly counterpropagating, mutually incoherent, nondiffracting pump beams, spatially overlapping in a photorefractive material with a nonlocal response. This equation extends the earlier linear two-dimensional theory to the weakly nonlinear regime. The analysis also starts from a more complete equation for the photorefractive effect, which leads to the prediction of novel effects especially apparent in the nonlinear regime. Precise predictions for the spatiotemporal behavior of the grating amplitude in the nonlinear regime are presented. The range of validity of the amplitude equation is studied. The characteristics of the instability in the nonlinear regime are analyzed through a front-selection analysis. © 1997 Optical Society of America [S0740-3224(97)01812-2]

Surface selectivity in four-wave mixing: transient gratings as a theoretical and experimental example
Received January 14, 1991; revised manuscript received May 16, 1991 A theoretical treatment of transient grating diffraction is derived for gratings that are spatially nonuniform in the direction perpendicular to the sample surface. This treatment is readily generalized to any four-wave mixing experiment. Both reflection and transmission geometries of diffraction are examined for the standard t...
متن کاملFour-wave mixing and phase conjugation in semiconductor laser media.
A theory of four-wave mixing in semiconductor laser media is developed by considering the contributions of both the gain and index gratings created by the carrier-density modulation occurring at the beat frequency of the pump and the probe waves. The general formalism can be applied to semiconductor lasers operating below or above threshold. As an illustration, we consider the case in which the...
متن کاملSuppression of Four Wave Mixing Based on the Pairing Combinations of Differently Linear-Polarized Optical Signals in WDM System
Data transmission in optical systems and increased transmission distance capacity benefit by using optical amplification wavelength division multiplexing (WDM) technology. The combination of four waves (FWM) is a non-linear effect in the wavelength division multiplex (WDM), when more than two wavelengths of light in a fiber launch will occur. FWM amount depends on the channel, the channel spaci...
متن کاملDegenerate four-wave mixing with a tunable excimer laser.
We use a simple, forward-geometry degenerate four-wave mixing setup to monitor weak absorptions of various gas-phase molecules with a tunable excimer laser. With this technique, state-selective detection of H(2), CO, H(2)O, and O(2) is demonstrated. The dependence of the forward-geometry degenerate four-wave mixing signals on various experimental parameters (e.g., pressure, laser power) is dete...
متن کاملElectronic Transmission Wave Function of Disordered Graphene by Direct Method and Green's Function Method
We describe how to obtain electronic transport properties of disordered graphene, including the tight binding model and nearest neighbor hopping. We present a new method for computing, electronic transport wave function and Greens function of the disordered Graphene. In this method, based on the small rectangular approximation, break up the potential barriers in to small parts. Then using the f...
